PITTSBURGH — The 2020 holiday season marks the last time Duquesne Light Company will feature its annual Tree of Lights display at Point State Park. The company said it plans to retire the 80-foot tree, which is one of the city’s most iconic holiday displays, after being featured at the park for more than 30 years.
“We know this tree has brought joy to so many, especially those who come home for the holidays and see its bright lights after making their way through the Fort Pitt Tunnel or coming across the Fort Duquesne Bridge,” Steve Malnight, president and CEO of DLC, said in a statement. “In a normal year, we would have gathered together at Point State Park to celebrate the lighting, but the pandemic forced us to do things differently this time. While we couldn’t be there in person, we still embrace the tree as a symbol of comfort and hope during the holidays.”
