HARRISBURG, Pa. — Amtrak would like to add a second daily passenger train to its Pittsburgh-to-Harrisburg round-trip route within four years.
The train would continue on to New York City as part of a proposal included in the Pennsylvania State Rail Plan, which is updated every four years.
The 2020 draft was created over the last year with stakeholder input through various outreach efforts, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
PennDOT and the Federal Railroad Administration are gathering input this week by conducting virtual public hearings.
Comments on the draft plan can be submitted on the Pennsylvania State Rail Plan website through Dec. 2.
The Federal Railroad Administration will have the final say on plan approval.
