Do you recognize him? Police need help identifying man accused of helping destroy Pittsburgh police cruiser

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police need the public’s help identifying a man who was allegedly involved with destroying a police cruiser.

Police said they want to talk to him regarding his involvement.

Anyone with information on his identity and whereabouts is asked to call 412-323-7800 and ask for the Intelligence Unit.

On Monday, Brian Bartels turned himself in to Pittsburgh police. He was wanted in connection with protests that turned into rioting in downtown Pittsburgh over the weekend.

Police said Bartels, 20, broke the windows out of a marked Pittsburgh police vehicle Uptown “against the wishes of peaceful protesters who tried to stop him.” That sparked an increase in violence during the protests.
