BETHEL PARK, Pa. — The Bethel Park School Board has finalized its back-to-school plan.

School will resume Aug. 26 in Bethel Park after the board agreed Tuesday night on two options for students as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to play out.

Students can choose to do all in-classroom courses at their school building or all online courses from home.

In both options, students will be taught by Bethel Park teachers and get the same curriculum.

Students who learn from home can choose to eventually return to school for in-class instruction when they are ready.

If a student who attends in-person classes gets sick, they can transition to online learning.

District leaders said their back-to-school plan is about making the experience as stress-free as possible and accessible to everyone during an ever-changing time.

“This has been a test of being flexible. Something we’ve never expected in a million years, but it’s all about doing what we do best and that’s educating kids in a safe, healthy environment,” Dr. Janet O’Rourke, assistant superintendent of curriculum and special services, said.

School board members said they will keep a close eye on the ongoing pandemic and if they need to make changes, they will.
