WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — A smoking car caught fire in a PNC Bank drive thru Friday, destroying the vehicle and damaging the building.

According to fire officials, bank employees inside the facility in West Mifflin along Homeville Road reported hearing a small explosion before the car erupted in flames. Employees tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but it did not work.
Fire crews said when they arrived at the bank, the car was already engulfed in flames. The drive thru area was damaged, but the inside of the bank was not.

The bank branch is closed and the fire marshal was headed to the scene to help determine what caused the fire.
One customer and five employees were inside when the car caught fire. There were no injuries.
