One county in western Pennsylvania is leading the state in the positivity rate of weekly COVID-19 tests, according to a release from the governor’s office.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s office released coronavirus data for the week of July 17 - July 23 on Friday, and one local county -- Beaver -- is at the top in terms of testing positivity.

While the statewide percent-positivity was just 4.8% this past week -- up 0.4% from last week -- the following counties had “concerning” rates, according to the release:

  • Beaver (8.7%)
  • Armstrong (8.6%)
  • Franklin (7.7%)
  • Mercer (7.6%)
  • Allegheny (6.6%)
  • Lawrence (6.2%)
  • Chester (6.0%)
  • Philadelphia (5.6%)
  • Fayette (5.4%)
  • York (5.4%)
  • Dauphin (5.3%)
  • Delaware (5.3%)
  • Bedford (5.1%)
  • Greene (5.1%

As of Thursday, officials said Pa. has seen a seven-day case increase of 5,912. The previous weekly increase was 5,579, “alerting that cases are continuing to rise throughout the state.”

Restrictions to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Allegheny County were updated last week to fall more in line with statewide orders from Gov. Tom Wolf that went into effect Thursday.

The new order rescinded a July 8 order from the ACHD and took effect on July 17.
