HARRISBURG, Pa. — The bill named after Alina Sheykhet, a University of Pittsburgh student murdered in her apartment, unanimously passed the Senate on Tuesday.
Now, the proposed Alina's Law is one step closer to becoming a law.
Sheykhet was found murdered in her off-campus apartment in October.

It allows judges to order a defendant in a protection from abuse order case to wear an electronic-monitoring device.
She had filed a PFA against her ex-boyfriend, Matthew Darby, days before she was killed.
Darby is set to appear in court Wednesday on a separate rape case.
