Blackhawk High School increases security after bomb threat

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — A written bomb threat was found in a Blackhawk High School bathroom stall Monday, prompting school officials to cancel evening activities and plan for increased security Tuesday.

The threat stated there would be a bomb in school Tuesday, according to a release by the school district.

The high school building was placed on lockdown, and all indoor high school activities scheduled for Monday evening were canceled to allow a “comprehensive search.”

Police conducted an initial search, and additional units were contacted to coordinate a more comprehensive search of the building using a K-9 unit and local law enforcement officers, the release said.

The release said all students Tuesday morning will be required to enter the building through the brown cafeteria doors, located near the flagpole in the front of the building.

Students are asked to not bring backpacks, gym bags, purses or any large bag with them to school Tuesday. Police will search all bags brought by students upon arrival, the release said.

A letter was sent to parents alerting them to the changes.
