Butler County Community College’s locations in Armstrong, Butler, Jefferson, Lawrence and Mercer counties remained open.
Butler Township police informed school officials about a threat on social media, featuring a photograph of a message written on a white concrete block wall.
The threat referenced Oak Hills and Sept. 30 and pinned the college’s main campus, school officials said. BC3′s main campus is located on the former Oak Hills Golf Course.
Police said the threat was made on Snapchat, saying “I will shoot up the school on Thursday September 30th. This is not a joke.”
College officials said the campus was safe late Thursday afternoon and they plan to have it open for classes on Friday.
