CANONSBURG — After being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the annual Fourth of July parade returned to Canonsburg on Saturday.
The parade returned for its 58th year, with its 2021 theme honoring essential workers. Since the Fourth falls on a Sunday, the festivities were held Saturday out of respect for the borough’s church communities.

For many, there was excitement for the parade to be back.
“This is one of my favorite events of the whole year. I’m excited there is a parade,” resident Beverly Perkins said. “Finally getting to normal. We really didn’t do anything last year so it’s it’s nice with things opening up and getting out.”
Many residents placed chairs out to save space along Pike Street, some a few days in advance.
“It’s this unwritten rule, everyone respects each other and leaves everyone else’s chairs alone,” resident Meghan Foust said.
The festivities will be capped off with a fireworks display at Canonsburg Memorial Stadium.
