PITTSBURGH — A clinic in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood is now offering COVID-19 booster shots.
“I feel like I need to protect myself a little more. The third shot would be better for immune system, to make it better for me,” said Charles Johnson.
“I’m feeling good about it. I don’t want to get sick,” Jacquelyn Ramey said.
Duquesne University partnered with Central Baptist Church and the Allegheny County Health Department to offer this weekly vaccine clinic. It was created to help communities like the Hill District, where people living there may have to overcome barriers to get healthcare.
While some got their booster shot, others showed up to get their first dose, including Leroy Gaines.
“Things are starting to spike again so I’d rather have it,” he said. “It was the rumor that was going around that everyone was getting real sick off the shots. That was my main thing.”
The clinic will be back open on Sunday.
