PITTSBURGH — The Allegheny County Health Department said it has gotten complaints about a lack of mask wearing at Heinz Field since Sunday’s Steelers home opener.
While the stadium strongly encourages all fans to wear masks, they’re only required in indoor areas like shops, elevators and bathrooms. That’s regardless of vaccination status.
Masks do not need to be worn outside in the stands or in the outdoor concourses.
Fans are not required to show proof of vaccination, but unvaccinated fans are asked to wear a mask at all times.

About 63,000 people were at Sunday’s Steelers game. It was the first regular season game allowed to be at full capacity -- which is just over 68,000 people -- since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
