PITCAIRN, Pa. — The couple being sought after police found a suspected drug lab in their Pitcairn home is now in custody.

David Klein, 30, and Allison Ober, 27, turned themselves in to police Friday morning.

In February, investigators had to evacuate the area after they found suspected drug-making materials and explosives in the Second Street home.

Investigators said the couple put their child in danger with the items found in the home.

Neighbors are happy to hear the couple have turned themselves in, but are still concerned about what may have been happening inside their apartment.

The pair are facing a long list of charges, including risking a catastrophe, possessing explosives and endangering the welfare of children.

"I believe that this was a mischaracterization of what took place," said Christopher Thomas, Klein's attorney. He said what was found was not meant to be dangerous.

"Very simply, (Klein) has an interest in and part of his hobbies are bottle rockets and fireworks," Thomas said. "This is a far cry from a 'Breaking Bad' episode."

Police first responded to the home for a possible drug overdose on Feb. 28.

They initially charged Klein and Ober with drug offenses and endangering their 4-year-old child. But when police got a warrant to search the home, the couple were gone.

Neighbors were evacuated when police found buckets of materials they say could be used to create explosives.

"I'm glad they're out of here," said Cindy Cioca, a neighbor. "It's kinda scary to know they were here in the first place because none of us had any idea."

Both Klein and Ober were released on their own recognizance.

They'll be back in court on the original charges next month.
