PITTSBURGH — The vaccine supply in Allegheny County now outnumbers demand for shots, health officials said.
Allegheny County Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen is encouraging everyone to make a vaccination appointment. At this point, 57% of the adult population has received their shot.
Officials said having so much vaccine on hand lets people get their shot wherever they need to.
In the weeks ahead, focus will shift from large-scale clinics to bringing vaccines to underserved areas where people can’t always get access.

Testing is still essential as the pandemic continues to play out, and it’s getting easier than ever, health officials said.
New at home, over-the-counter tests are available.
CVS is rolling out three different versions, and the results are returned in as little as 15 minutes.
However, one of them requires you to send the sample to a lab.
It’s important to note that they aren’t covered by insurance.
