PITTSBURGH — COVID-19 vaccinations at Kane Community Living Centers have gotten underway.
Vaccine distribution started Monday at the facility in Ross Township and will continue Tuesday.
More than 150 residents and employees in Ross Township received the vaccine Monday, and two of the four resident units are complete.
The remaining residents and staff who did not get vaccinated will get their first dose Tuesday. Over the two-day clinic, 93% of the residents and 81% of employees received the first shots.
CVS Pharmacy is administering the Pfizer-BioNTech shot. The second doses will come on Jan. 25 and 26.
Kane’s director, Dennis Biondo, said he’s very optimistic.
“I’m hoping the vaccine is as effective as everyone says and allows us to get back to where we were a year ago, when residents and family members can visit the facility,” Biondo said.
There are four Kane facilities with a total of more than 700 residents and 900 workers.
The Glen Hazel facility will get vaccinations Tuesday and Wednesday. The McKeesport and Scott locations will get the first doses on Jan. 9 and 10.
