EVANS CITY, Pa. — Hundreds of people were without power after a crash took out a pole early Thursday morning in Evans City, officials said.

The crash happened about 3 a.m. on West Main Street, splitting a pole that was then left dangling from wires.

One person was hurt in the crash and was taken to a hospital with a minor injury, officials said.

Nearly 500 people in the area did not have power following the crash, according to West Penn Power.

The outage included Evans City Elementary School and Evans City Middle School in the Seneca Valley School District. Both schools are running on a two-hour delay Thursday.

Power was restored just before 8 a.m.

Crews brought in a new pole to replace the one that was sheared.
