PITTSBURGH — Numerous crashes were reported around the region on Christmas Eve as temperatures rapidly dropped, freezing the water that fell as rain and turning roads icy.
In West View, Channel 11 was there as an SUV went off the road, hitting a power pole and slamming into a building. Bricks were thrown everywhere and part of the entranceway was destroyed. Firetrucks and a tow truck couldn’t even turn onto the road until a salt truck came, it was so icy.
Be careful driving out there right now. The snow is coming down good here along Saw Mill Run Blvd in Bon Air. @DanielleDozier will have the latest for you coming up on @WPXI tonight. #wpxistorm #wpxi pic.twitter.com/OPpIfWDk6W
