BELLEVUE. Pa. — A fire destroyed a family’s home in Bellevue Monday afternoon.

Chopper 11 was over the home along Orchard Avenue and smoke was seen coming from the roof.

Investigators said the homeowner was in his garage working out when the fire started on the first floor.

“He had no idea what was going on somebody from across the street was running over saying your house is in fire,” said Bellevue Fire Department assistant fire chief Glenn Pritchard said.

When firefighters arrived, the whole house was up in flames.

The cold weather is the reason why there was such a large response. Firefighters rotated out regularly and made sure to stay hydrated.

Fire officials told us five kids and their parents live inside the home. They weren’t inside when it happened.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
