A crowded Pittsburgh celebrates Independence Day

PITTSBURGH — It was packed all throughout the city, as many families made their way to watch the show.

Crowds filled the streets in the city as many came out to view the fireworks in a sight that was completely different from last year.

“It feels good to be back out. I hate being in the house. I like watching the kids play and watching people,” said Dorothea Seippel.

Many came out hours ago, trying to beat the crowd. But traffic quickly filled the streets, and parking was hard to find.

Police officers were out making sure everyone was safe. They also had security checks at the Point, which is an added safety measure.

“I just want everyone to be safe, watch their drinking, be safe on the river, the roads, watch these children,” Seippel said.

Many said they’re excited to finally be out and to see so many people together in one place.

“I’m happy! I’m really pleased that everybody’s getting out and enjoying themselves,” said Carol Cladish.
