Voters supported Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto's re-election bid but shot down an incumbent on the Allegheny County Council, and Greensburg is in line to seat its first-ever female district judge after primary elections Tuesday.

Peduto easily outpaced political newcomer John Welch and city council president Darlene Harris, garnering more than two-thirds of the votes in the Democratic primary, virtually assuring him a second term in November.

Peduto's campaign committee supported newcomer Bob Palmosina for the Allegheny County Council's District 12 seat, helping him upset 10-year incumbent Jim Ellenbogen.

TRENDING NOW:

Chris Flanigan, a Westmoreland County assistant prosecutor, won both the Democratic and Republican nominations, essentially making her Greensburg's next district judge.
