Did you see it? Starlink constellation visible in the Pittsburgh sky Saturday night

PITTSBURGH — With a clear sky Saturday night, it made for the perfect conditions to view the Starlink-6 satellite over the Pittsburgh area.

Starlink is a constellation consisting of thousands of mass-produced small satellites in low-Earth orbit. They are constructed and launched into space by SpaceX.

Their goal is to bring high-speed internet to every single location on Earth. As of June, the company has launched more than 450 Starlink satellites.

Starlink-6 was visible at approximately 10:44 p.m. over Pittsburgh.

The satellite appeared in the southwest sky about 10 degrees above the horizon. It disappeared at 11 degrees above the northeast horizon. The max height was 74 degrees.

It was visible for about six minutes, and it appeared as a “train” of bright dots in the sky.
