PITTSBURGH — A dog was found abandoned and severely malnourished with a bag of dog food scatted across the ground. She had just given birth to puppies, officials said.
Thankfully, a Girl Scout troop was passing by selling cookies. They found the dog and called a local rescue to help the animal.
Humane rescue officers are still investigating and tell Channel 11 they plan to charge the person responsible. The dog, named Savannah, will be put up for adoption unless and owner comes forward.
“My question would be if an owner came forward is, ‘Why didn’t you just contact a shelter if you didn’t want her?’,” Sherri Knight with Pet Search said.
