An early morning robbery on Tuesday temporarily closed the 7-Eleven store on Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh.
Police said the robber wore a red mask when he entered the store around 5 a.m., handed a navy blue bag to the cashier and demanded money and cigarettes.

The store sits on a busy corner of Smithfield Street and Forbes Avenue, but it was robbed when not many people are around. People who work downtown said the robbery is unfortunate but told Channel 11 News that they don't feel like their safety is at risk.
"The times are changing. That is unfortunate," said Larry Jones. "For the most part, I do feel safe downtown."
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
