Driver killed when tractor-trailer crashes over hillside along I-70

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed Friday morning when the truck crashed over a hillside along Interstate 70 in Washington County, officials said.

Washington County coroner identified the driver as 59-year-old Phillip A. Keesling of Straughn, Indiana.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. on I-70 westbound near the exit to Interstate 79 southbound in South Strabane Township.

Police said the truck hit a bridge support on the I-79 south underpass after going over the hillside.

A hazmat team was called to the scene because the truck was leaking diesel fuel, officials said.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.
