GREENSBURG, Pa. — An elderly man has died two weeks after he was hit by a car outside of a restaurant in South Greensburg Friday, but the driver who hit him took off.
According to witnesses, the male driver stopped briefly to check on the man, then got back in his vehicle and drove away. Police believe the car was an older model Chevy Cruze.

“I heard a large thump and people screaming so I stuck my head out the window and noticed a gentleman laying on the ground," Terry Stubbs said.
It happened outside DeGennaro’s Restaurant in the early evening hours Friday.
Stubbs and others jumped in to help the victim while waiting for an ambulance.

“I don’t know. How could people do that? How could you hit and run somebody?" he said.
Police believe the car has damage to the driver's side front bumper, fender and hood.
