Erie man accused of murdering wife, then confessing to priest

MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa — An Erie man is behind bars after police say he killed his wife then drove to a church and confessed to a priest Thursday, according to Erie News Now.

John Grazioli, 44, is facing several charges including first-degree murder, criminal homicide, and aggravated assault.

Investigators said they got a call that a man was threatening suicide after he killed his wife at a home on Forest Crossing in Millcreek Township, Erie News Now reported.

Investigators did find a woman's body inside the home, but her identity has not yet been released.

Police eventually located Grazioli's car in the parking lot near Saint Peter Cathedral where he was inside the rectory office allegedly confessing to a priest, according to the report.

The priest wasn't taking part in a sacramental confession at the time Grazioli allegedly admitted to the crime.

That’s when, according to Erie News Now, the priest called 911 and Grazioli was taken into custody.

Grazioli is now in the Erie County jail.
