LATROBE, Pa. — It’s been three years since Cassandra Gross was reported missing. Since then, a judge declared Gross legally dead.

On the anniversary of Gross’ disappearance, her family continues to fight for justice. They told Channel 11 they think they know how their daughter died, but they don’t want to make that public yet.

“It just all hits you in the face,” said Kathe Gross. “It’s harder today.”
Cassandra’s mother, Kathe Gross, said she just tries to find a sense of normalcy. But it was three years to the day she last heard her daughter’s voice.

“He stalked her for nine months. He hurt her one time and she had to have rotator cuff surgery,” Gross said.
She’s talking about Thomas Stanko, the man she believes knows what happened to Cassandra. He’s been in jail on unrelated charges. Police said he is officially a person of interest in her death, but no murder charges have been filed.
Officials in the District Attorney’s Office said they regularly discuss this case and plan to meet with state police to review it again. But for the Gross family, they just want answers.
“No matter where you find a door, you aren’t getting anywhere. You just stay in this hell,” Kathe Gross said.
