Family remembering mother of 2 killed in wrong-way hit-and-run crash on I-70

The mother of two who was killed in a wrong-way hit-and-run crash on Interstate 70 is being remembered by her loved ones.

Joscelyn Vith’s sister shared memories and photos of Joscelyn with Channel 11′s Mike Holden. She said an innocent life was taken too soon, and she wants everyone to see her sister as a beautiful person inside and out and feel the impact of this tragedy.

The crash happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. on I-70 eastbound near Exit 17 Thursday morning.

Police said 48-year-old Leandre Woods is responsible for the deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 32-year-old Vith.

Police said Vith was driving home from work when Woods’ pickup truck, going the wrong way, crashed into her Jaguar head on.

Vith was rushed from the crash site on I-70 and passed away at a Pittsburgh hospital leaving behind her 14-year-old son, 12-year-old daughter and her teenage sweetheart of 16 years -- her husband. She was the oldest sister of four.

Her sister Selina asked Channel 11 to share this full message:

“Our beautiful Jossie.

Mother of two, sister of four, and the ‘Outlaw’ lover of one. Joscelyn was the light and laughter you’d seek in your dark days. She was so goofy and warm hearted, always making you laugh at her antics. She had an outrageous love for animals and a heart so big that she would wrap it around everyone she’d meet, regardless of their story, their race or where they came from — she just loved and showed up as a friend to all. If Heaven exists, our beautiful blue eyed girl is sitting on Tuttone’s lap today, cracking a beer with Daddy tomorrow and running through the creek with with her “old man” dog Menace for the rest of time. I love you, sisterita.”

Vith’s sister also shared several photos of her with Channel 11.
