Loved ones are holding onto hope nearly one year after a young Etna woman vanished.

Kaylene Oehling was last heard from on Jan. 10, 2020. She was 20 years old at the time of her disappearance.

“It’s been a really hard year,” said her mother, Tiffany Young.

No charges have ever been filed; however, on Friday, an Allegheny County Police spokesperson told us that the circumstances are “suspicious,” and investigators do in fact have suspects. Names, however, are not being released as the investigation is open and ongoing.

For months, family members have posted missing signs around the area.

“Kaylene has a big family. We all care about her and we’re not gonna stop until we find the answers we need,” said Paul Young, Kaylene’s uncle.

According to investigators, Kaylene was last seen at a friend’s home on Jan. 9, 2020. She left to meet someone and was expected to return, but never did. In the early morning hours of Jan. 10, she reportedly texted her mom to confirm she’d be seeing her later that day to babysit. But, Kaylene never showed.

Loved ones ask anyone with information to please come forward.

“Think about if it was your family.”

This Sunday, to mark one year since Kaylene was last heard from, loved ones are holding a vigil at the baseball field on Crescent Street in Etna at 6:30 p.m.

The gathering is mainly for friends and family, but anyone compelled to come is asked to wear a mask and social distance.

“We’re just gonna celebrate her,” Paul Young said. “That’s about all we can do at this point, so we just want to keep her name out there. We don’t want anybody to forget we’re still looking for her.”
