The family of a man shot and killed by Pittsburgh police in February gathered at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Friday to demand answers from officials.
The shooting of Mark Daniels was deemed justified by District Attorney Stephen Zappala, who said Daniels fired at police officers in Homewood first. But Daniels’ family and their attorney dispute that version of events.
"Officer Gino Maceoci lied about Mark Daniels shooting a gun," said Daniels' sister, Sequaha Jeffries. "Once again, where's the evidence?"

Supporters linked Daniels' case to that of Antwon Rose, the 17-year-old teenager shot in the back by a police officer during a June traffic stop in East Pittsburgh. That officer now faces homicide charges.
"They were both black men that were killed wrongfully," Jeffries said.
Daniels' family and supporters want their efforts to lead to change for Daniels and others like him.
"I'm actually hoping for state legislators, representatives to come forward to change what is stated in the law when a police officer is apprehending someone," Jeffries said.
