Family wants closure after Ross Township mom’s disappearance

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — It’s been nearly a decade since a Ross Township mother of two vanished, and her family members continue to seek answers.

“Even if something bad did happen, it would be better to have closure, to know this is over,” said Daisy Peterson. “Every single day, it’s in the back of our minds.”

Daisy, now 22, was just a child when her mom, Jamie Peterson, disappeared on Sept. 26, 2011.

The Ross Township single mom hasn’t been heard from since.

Daisy and her brother knew something was wrong when Jamie, then 30, didn’t show to pick them up from swim practice. Calls to her phone went straight to voicemail.

Their grandmother ended up driving them home to their apartment on North Fremont Avenue. There was no sign of their mom, her wallet or her cell phone.

Her car, however, was still there, and Jamie was recovering from knee surgery at the time, so it was difficult for her to walk, according to Daisy.

“Her disappearance is odd,” said Det. Sgt. Brian Kohlhepp with the Ross Township Police Department. “It’s a missing person case but there are suspicious circumstances around her disappearance.”

Det. Sgt. Kohlhepp told Channel 11 the case is not closed.

“This is something we still look at. We’ve gone through the evidence we’ve gathered, and we do have a significant amount of evidence, we constantly reevaluate it with new technology and emerging trends in policing to see what other leads we can develop,” he said.

Meantime, Daisy and her family are hoping for answers. She and her brother, who is now a Marine, were raised by their grandmother.

The mystery weighs on all of them, Daisy said.

No one has ever been arrested for the disappearance.
