For the first time, the biological father of the Ohio baby who police say was raped and murdered by her mother's boyfriend has spoken out.

Andrew Payne is learning the hard truth about 13-month old Sereniti Sutley.

"I hope that he gets what he deserves,” Payne said. “There's nothing else in this world that I want but justice for Sereniti.

"It takes a man to cry and that’s what I did, and I'm gonna start crying right now, to be honest."

Police captured the suspect, Joshua Gurto, on Friday in Franklin Park, ending a weeks-long manhunt.

After a DNA test, Payne found out just days ago that Sereniti was his daughter.

"I just found out she was mine three days ago and I'm not gonna have a life with her now," he said.

Gurto is accused of raping and murdering Sereniti on Oct. 7 at his girlfriend's home in Conneaut, Ohio.

Authorities say Gurto went on the run for weeks, hitchhiking from Erie to Pittsburgh and hiding in the woods.

Last week, he was spotted at two different Sheetz locations in the Pittsburgh area.

"That baby needs justice and hopefully he gets what he deserves with every intent," Payne said.

Gurto remains at the Allegheny County Jail. He is expected to be extradited to Ohio within days.
