CANONSBURG, Pa. — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a large blaze at a home in Canonsburg Thursday.

Smoke could be seen pouring out of the home on East College Street.

“It was such a roar, it was unbelievable. It sounded like a freight train. The heat from in this corner, it felt like it was 500 degrees,” David Deluca said.

The assistant fire chief said the flames spread to the house next door and everyone from both homes was safe.

“There was a cat that was laying in the driver way that was not in very good condition. The firefighters brought her over and I took off my shirt and wrapper her up and the owner took her to the vet,” Deluca said.

Chopper 11 was over the scene and could see dozens of firefighters working to get the flames under control. Smoke was pouring out of the roof as crews attacked the fire from above and on the ground.

The Assistant Fire chief, who is also the mayor, said everyone is OK right now.

It’s not clear what caused the fire.
