NEW KENSINGTON, Pa, — Fire severely damaged a home in New Kensington before crews could put it out.
The homeowner, Jeffrey Campbell, told Channel 11 he smelled smoke coming from his basement. He said he tried to put the fire out himself, but it was too much for him to handle. He said he got out and called 911 for help.
Despite the situation, he was still optimistic.
“I’ve been in bad situations before and always pull out of it,” Campbell said.
Campbell said he has a wood shop in the basement and was only down there once. He’s not sure how the fire started.
