WEST DEER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 14-year-old girl was found dead after fire tore through her home in West Deer Township Thursday morning.
The fire was reported around 9:15 a.m. on Shepard Road.

Most of the home’s roof was gone and smoke was still billowing into the sky when Channel 11 News got to the scene about 10 a.m.
The fire marshal is investigating what caused the fire and where it started. Anyone with information is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
The superintendent of the Deer Lakes School District released the following statement: “Earlier today, we learned of the passing of an eighth-grade student at Deer Lakes Middle School as the result of a fire in her home. Our heart is broken for the young lady, her family and everyone who knew her. Starting tomorrow, counselors, administrators, and support staff will be providing support and care for our students and staff through teleconferencing to help them get through this extraordinarily painful time.
