It's a battle between winter and spring!

A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for most of the viewing area from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect late Tuesday through Wednesday for the ridges of Fayette County, West Virginia and Maryland.

The calendar arrival of spring comes Tuesday, with a wintry mix of rain, possibly freezing rain and snow. Early Tuesday a wintry mix will move from south to north. During the day, warmer air will change the mix to rain in some areas, while other locations see snow.

Steadier snow will fall late Tuesday through Wednesday before gradually ending through the day.

STORM TRACKER: Timeline of snowfall expected Tuesday into Wednesday

This is a very complex system and a shift in the track or timing will mean a big difference in where the heaviest snow falls.
