PITTSBURGH — Water levels are rising on local rivers, streams and creeks because of Thursday’s heavy rain, as well as snow that has melted.
In Pittsburgh, the Ohio River is being monitored most closely. Its level is expected to pass 18 feet Friday morning and continue to rise until it crests at around 23 feet on Saturday.
Several areas along the river will likely be impacted by flooding. Those areas include the Mon Wharf, the North Shore River Walk and the 10th Street Bypass.

Water levels are not expected to reach 25 feet, the point at which the “bathtub” section of Interstate 376 starts to flood.
Floodwaters likely won’t start to recede until Sunday, so some areas could close into next week.
