MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Pittsburgh-born-and-raised former Penn State University football star and NFL linebacker, Brandon Short, members of his family, and McKeesport leaders announced a $20,000 monetary award in their quest to bring Short’s daughter, Karli’s killer to justice.
Karli Short, 26, was fatally shot last week.
The coroner informed Brandon Short that she was pregnant with a boy at the time.
Family and community leaders gathered at the Renziehausen Park in McKeesport and shared stories of tribute in remembrance of Karli. Richard Bazzy, a local business owner and president of Schults Ford and Lincoln, grew up in the Mon Valley.
After hearing of the tragedy, he reached out to the family to offer his monetary assistance.
“As a father I can’t imagine the grief Mr. Short is going through. I believe that those who have the ability to help, should help,” said Bazzy.
“I don’t know if I can ever find peace if we don’t catch the people who did this to her. I want the criminals and anyone who is keeping their secrets to know that our quest for justice will not go away until we track down her killer,” said Brandon Short.
The Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit is investigating Karli Short’s killing. Police reminded citizens that their tips will remain anonymous. Anyone with information that will lead to the arrest is eligible for the $20,000 reward.
