Former West Penn Hospital worker put camera in employee bathroom, police say

PITTSBURGH — A man is facing charges for videotaping fellow employees in a bathroom at West Penn Hospital when he worked there, authorities said.

Guy Caley taped the small camera to a chair inside a unisex employee bathroom on the third floor, according to a criminal complaint. It was found in December by an employee.

The lens of the camera appeared to be facing toward a toilet, police said.

Investigators reviewed the video and identified five employees who were seen on it.

The video captured Caley taping the camera to the chair, the complaint said. He admitted to putting it there on Dec. 17, the same day it was found.

Caley told investigators he had previously used the same camera several other times to take video of people in the bathroom. He would take the camera home and download the videos to his laptop. When he found out the camera had been found, he deleted those videos.

Caley, who no longer works at West Penn Hospital, is charged with invasion of privacy and illegal use of wire or oral communications. He turned himself in Friday.

Authorities believe there might be additional victims. Anyone who believes they might have been a victim is asked to call 412-388-5300, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office said.
