MUDDY CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — 31-year-old Lindsey Thompkins from Aliquippa is being remembered as a beloved bus driver in the community after he died in a tragic crash Tuesday afternoon.
His sister, Shereka Simmons, said her whole world was turned upside down when she found out her little brother had passed away.
“One of his coworkers called me and said there was a bad accident on 79 and they knew that was his route and that they were calling him and he wasn’t answering his phone,” said Simmons.
She said the whole family is heartbroken and devastated over his loss. She said Thompkins was her only sibling and best friend.

She told Channel 11 they were very close, they talked every day and she can’t believe he’s gone. She said he died doing what he loved.
“Someone that was so lovable and helped people out, it’s sad to say he passed away with something he loved doing,” said Simmons. “He enjoyed being a driver since he was little that’s all he did was play with school buses and charter buses.”
The bus company, Rhodes Transit, said Thompkins has worked for the company for about five years now.
Simmons said he loved his job, even started his own bus company called ‘Simmons Charter Service’ in honor of their mom who died more than a year ago.
“It’s hard. It’s devastating, that’s my brother. He doesn’t deserve for this to happen,” said Simmons. “We just lost our mother a year ago and now I have to bury my brother too.”
Simmons also said Thompkins was a great father to his 2-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter.
Thompkins was also a former police officer in Texas but was born and raised in Aliquippa.
At this time, state police have not said what exactly caused the crash. The sister said she wants answers as to what happened.
