PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. — This upcoming Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney will look a lot different due to COVID-19.

People will be watching Punxsutawney Phil make his spring prediction at Gobbler’s Knob virtually in 2021. That’s because there will be no visitors allowed, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.

The club said it’s unlikely, but if it determined that it could safely hold any in-person activities, it would make changes.

“The guests who come to Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney each February from around the world are a key component to making Groundhog Day so special.  We look forward to the day when we can welcome back all our guests and faithful followers, hopefully in February of 2022,” said Jeffrey Lundy, president of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, in a release.
