PITTSBURGH — A call to 911 about a reported kidnapping caused police to rush to the Days Inn hotel on Banksville Road in Beechview.

Police said just before 3 p.m., an abduction in progress was reported in the 300 block of Bausman Street. Not long after that call, officers found a vehicle they believe was connected to the alleged abduction.

SWAT teams were called in because it was a possible hostage situation. Officers were able to locate the alleged victim who is safe. Two men were detained.

But as officers started clearing hotel rooms, they told Channel 11 they found a number of people who had active warrants unrelated to the alleged abduction. Those people were taken into custody.

“There was activity going on in these rooms, including illegal activity, drug use and possibly other crimes,” said Chris Togneri with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

Traffic on the nearby roadway was not affected, but police urged people to avoid the area.
