Local police officer raises money to support restaurants, feed families

A police officer in Ohio Township is helping families get the food they need while also supporting local businesses.

Officer Stephen Panormios raised $1,000 in just a couple hours using GoFundMe. The money went to local restaurants and catering companies, which are then providing meals to families, free of charge.

“Some of these places, we want to see them open their doors after this pandemic is over, and this is one of those ways they could benefit,” Panormios said. “We're going to keep it going as long as the money is there and as long as businesses are willing to do this.”

Four Ohio Township police officers delivered meals to feed 60 people Tuesday morning. The next delivery will be dinner on Friday.
