Highmark contributes nearly 40,000 face coverings to EMS providers during National EMS Week
Highmark Inc. is thanking first responders during National EMS week by donating nearly 40,000 cloth face coverings to front line workers in three states.
The face covering will help spread of COVID-19 and will preserve Personal Protective Equipment for patient care.
“EMS professionals have been on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic since day one. We owe them an immense amount of gratitude for their ongoing partnership, as we continue to serve our community,” said Deb Rice-Johnson, president of Highmark Inc. “It’s fitting that we can show our appreciation by providing them with face coverings that will allow for high-grade personal protective equipment to be preserved for when it’s needed the most.”
The face coverings are made of a washable cloth material and are branded with Highmark’s signature colors, blue and green.
City Mission Housing Coordinator runs marathon to raise money
A House Coordinator at City Mission in Washington County, is running a marathon Monday to raise money for the mission.
Wayne started training to run the Pittsburgh Marathon in January.
After it was canceled because of COVID-19, he decided to run a virtual race through to the Pittsburgh Marathon’s website.
Monday he’s running around the city of Washington and the surrounding communities to raise money for the City Mission.

Local BBQ restaurant to donate hundreds of meals to families in need
Wheelfish, a neighborhood BBQ restaurant in the North Hills is donating 800 meals Monday to families in need.
The restaurant is partnering with 412 Food Rescue to donate the meals to Family Life Center in Aliquippa, Northway Christian Church, and Alexis Manor Christian Housing Senior Living.
Local fire department helps bring military member home to his family
The Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department in Indiana County helped bring a member of the U.S. Army home to his family. There were tears, hugs and happy family members.
