MARS, Pa. — 2:50 P.M. UPDATE: No device was found in the school and students returned to the high school at about 1:45 p.m., the district said.
A bomb threat closed a local high school on Wednesday.
In a letter to parents, Mars Area School District Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley said the district was made aware of the threat at Mars Area High School in the morning and immediately contacted police.
Students were evacuated to Mars Area Elementary School across the street so authorities could sweep the building, Shipley wrote.
“Mars Area School District strives to remain proactive in the protection of our students, faculty and staff members,” he wrote. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation as the District works to resolve this matter.”
