Highmark could remove MedExpress from insurance networks

PITTSBURGH — Highmark has notified MedExpress that it will remove the urgent care company from its insurance networks later this year, if a new contract agreement is not reached.

Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE reported that the letter Highmark sent to MedExpress applies to all clinics in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

A 2011 contract between MedExpress and Highmark expires in August. The letter came as negotiations over a new contract were starting, TribLIVE reported.

Both sides said they are currently working to negotiate a new contract.
