WEST HOMESTEAD, Pa. — Residents woke up to a water main break in West Homestead Tuesday morning.

A viewer called Channel 11 and said the break happened around 4:30 a.m. on Pinewood Drive.

Neighbors said water was gushing out of the front yard of a home and it looked like a geyser.  The water poured down the street and into at least three homes.

Firefighters went door to door asking residents if they needed help.

At one point, firefighters placed their hoses along the perimeter of the street to block the water from causing more damage to homes.

“Some of the blocks have washed out. Some of them split.  A lot of mud has washed down the back.  It’s just a mess for cleaning up now,” resident Jim Wriede said.

Repairs won't be complete for a few hours, officials said.
