Severe Weather Team 11 is watching an area of dust in the western Gulf of Mexico, and tracking whether it could move northeast into Pennsylvania this weekend.
The dust plume originated in the Sahara Desert and moved from Africa, traveling 5,000 miles across the Atlantic, Caribbean and into the Gulf of Mexico.

The dust will have greatest impact across the southeast but might create hazy skies and more vivid sunsets in our area. The dust could also affect air quality.
