The Independence Day parade in Canonsburg doesn't kick off until 10 a.m. Tuesday, but hundreds of people have already reserved prime viewing spots.
The annual "placing of the chairs" began Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Hours later, sidewalks were filled as residents took advantage of the borough tradition.

Since 2013, borough officials have allowed spectators to begin placing their seats 48 hours before the parade start. They only ask that chairs not be secured to light poles or other public infrastructure.
