OAKMONT, Pa. — Hundreds of people lost power early Monday after a car sheared a utility pole in Oakmont.
It happened on Hulton Road near 8th Street just after midnight.

The driver was not hurt, but the crash did knock out power to more than 640 Duquesne Light customers.
The road is expected by be closed for a few hours while crews work to replace the pole and restore power.

While crews were investigating the crash, the driver of another car nearly hit firefighters.
That driver was given a sobriety test and was taken into custody. That person’s name hasn’t been released.
